Chimérium, 2024
Chimérium mixes natural and artificial forms through generative objects that are at the crossroads of design and sculpture. The images produced present forms that oscillate between botanical elements and manufactured objects. Some of these creations are reminiscent of classic still lifes, but with a contemporary twist in which materials are transformed and reinterpreted.
The objects in the series are made in a variety of textures, simulating wax, fabric or paper, while sometimes taking on the appearance of vegetal structures, such as corals or plants. This juxtaposition of materials and forms underlines an intention to reflect on the processes of manufacture, artificialisation and aesthetic evolution. The textures and volumes used are reminiscent of manufactured objects, while their organisation evokes processes of growth or biological mutation.
The images are inspired by cabinets of curiosities, as spaces for collecting and classifying exceptional objects, while incorporating a contemporary dimension linked to new technologies and the use of generative tools. The hybridisation of plant and artefact questions the boundary between what is natural and what is man-made. This project invites us to question the processes by which forms are created and transformed, highlighting possible developments in the design of objects and plastic works.
